| I rode on board a B-17 Bomber |
You too can fly the B-17 In the fall of 2001 my brother-in-law Paul, my friend Charlie and myself had the thrill of a life time when we rode on board a World War II B-17 bomber. The bomber, along with a B-24, belong to the Collings Foundation, a non-profit organization that takes these planes around the country to let the public get a taste of history. This past year it cost $350 to take the ride. We were on board for at least 30 minutes and once in flight we were allowed to move about the plane. We could sit in the nose, stand in the top gun turret and even climb through the bomb bay. I was also able to ride in a B-25 this past spring. On the next page you will find a few pictures of our flight. They are small and hard to see, but if you want to see a bigger and better picture, email me and I would be happy to send you a few better ones. This web site is not the best for pictures. My email address is jtrapp@sc.rr.com.Visit the Collings Foundation's web site. |
